Invisalign

Invisalign® clear aligners straighten your teeth without wires and brackets, instead utilizing a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. This treatment is virtually undetectable, which means that almost no one will know you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them!

The Invisalign orthodontic system combines advanced 3D computer graphics technology with the 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign aligners are custom made to fit your smile, and move your teeth in small steps until they reach the final position. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to make the changes needed in each stage of your treatment.

Your first step for your Invisalign treatment is meeting with Dr. Lisa to determine if this treatment is right for you. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, we will take molds of your teeth, and use computer technology to translate those impressions and create a sequence of finely calibrated aligners. You may need as few as 5 aligners or as many as 48.

Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. You should wear your aligners as often as possible and only remove them to eat, brush and floss. Your teeth will gradually achieve their proper alignment. And at the end your of your treatment, you will be smiling like you never have before!

Braces with Jaw Surgery

If you have a severe bite issue, orthodontic treatment alone may not be enough to correct the problem. When this occurs, Dr. Lisa may recommend combining orthognathic (jaw) surgery with traditional orthodontics (braces) to help you improve your oral function, smile, and overall appearance.

Orthognathic surgery may also be recommended as part of a treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Severe malocclusion may contribute to a number of functional problems, including:

  • The inability to chew food properly
  • Speech difficulties
  • Craniomandibular dysfunction (including headaches, joint pain, and periodontal trauma)

Surgical orthodontics is a team effort. The best results are achieved using graphic imaging technology and interdisciplinary planning. When you receive surgical orthodontics, Dr. Lisa will collaborate with an oral & maxillofacial surgeon and your dentist to ensure that we achieve a more ideal functional and aesthetic outcome.

Please remember that while surgery may be the best option to achieve the results you want, it is always an elective procedure. We will discuss all surgical, non-surgical, and alternative treatment options with you, as well as the option to not seek treatment at all. We want you to be fully informed and feel comfortable with your treatment goals and expectations.

You should also remember that in many cases, orthognathic surgery may be avoided through effective and timely EARLY orthodontic treatment. Early jaw orthopedics can modify the amount and direction of unfavorable jaw growth, especially during the more active stages of growth and development which occur BEFORE age 7. Dr. Lisa prefers to evaluate children as early as age 4 to diagnose and treat developing problems before they progress and worsen over time.
